ST. GEORGE — The hiker reported overdue Wednesday from a hike in Zion National Park has been located.
On Wednesday, park spokesperson Amanda Rowland said the popular Narrows hike would be closed off starting at midnight Thursday and remain closed while search and rescue teams conducted a search for a missing hiker.
“It’s an active search and rescue. There is an overdue hiker,” Rowland said. “The goal is to provide access for search and rescue teams.”
On Thursday morning, Rowland sent out a press release to say that the Zion Search and Rescue team departed at 7 a.m. and that the Narrows remains closed. At 12:35 p.m. Thursday, Rowland stated that the hiker had been found with no life-threatening injuries and that the team was working to get the hiker out.
At the time of this report, there is no further information as to the identity or status of the hiker.
