So get ready to sway and rock out under the desert stars with this musical maverick.

“Music is just everything to me,” Adobe Taylor said. “When I think about it, honestly, it’s an outlet, it’s meditation, it’s a way for me to explore my own creativity and my own trains of thought. It’s also a way for me to relate to other people. I’ve done things and gone places because of music that I probably wouldn’t have done in any other way. So, music is my life. It’s not even a part of my life, it is my life.”

Taylor is a St. George native who started singing at age 6, playing guitar at age 11 and performing at every open mic event he could by age 14.

He grew up around his uncle Sean Taylor, a key player in the Southern Utah music scene. Adobe Taylor worked the door for his uncle’s shows while he was in middle school and felt inspired to pursue his dreams. His uncle has since moved to Los Angeles where he participates in events like Burning Man. He also created the Bombay Beach Biennale with other artists, an annual music festival in California.

As he grew up, Adobe Taylor made it his mission to expand St. George’s music scene by introducing new venues. At age 18, he decided to elevate his music career to new heights. As a songwriter who grew up in St. George, he felt he had little life experience, which wasn’t conducive to his songwriting. Determined to broaden his horizons, he strapped on a backpack and set off for a four-year trip around the country.

He traveled coast to coast twice, experiencing 40 different states and never stayed anywhere for longer than two months. During that period, he mined and sold gemstones and performed music to support himself. Because his unorthodox lifestyle meant constantly living in the middle of mountain ranges, he took a phone and technology hiatus, which also allowed him to connect more with himself while being present.

After concluding his travels, he settled in Johnson City, Tennessee, before venturing west to Denver, Colorado, for a year, followed by a stint in L.A. Returning to his roots in St. George in early 2020, he managed to secure the final booking at the Fox Theater before its closure. Since then, he has focused on furthering his music career, performing an average of four shows a week.

“Anywhere that’s a venue in St. George, I have played over the last three years,” Taylor said.

Due to his nomadic lifestyle, he hasn’t had the chance to delve into studio recording until recently. Now, he’s orchestrating a gathering of musicians to craft a fully composed EP, a collection of five to eight songs. Once perfected, they plan to hit the studio to bring their creation to life, making it accessible on streaming platforms for all to enjoy.
