ST. GEORGE A lightning strike Monday afternoon reportedly caused a shed fire at an Apple Valley residence, and one man with burn injuries was sent to the hospital.

Apple Valley Fire Chief Michael Gross told St. George News that around 4 p.m., they received a call about a structure fire.

“It boils down to it was a shed fire. And the suspicion is, yes, it was most likely a lightning strike,” Gross said. “That’s where there was lightning in the area. There was reported a loud crack, and the fire was noticed.”

Hildale-Colorado City Fire Department Chief Jesse Barlow confirmed to St. George News that they transported an adult male to the St. George Regional Hospital.

This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
